A Noisy Washing Machine

When you wash with washing machine, especially the old washing machine you will surely find a noise that occurs almost every time you use. it might seem as a common phenomenon but it might be a signal for a major problem that is about to happen. There are many reasons due to which washing machines begin to vibrate vigorously and often cause a huge noise. The chances of vibrations and noise due to it are more in top-loading washers as they have a big agitator and a drum that has more space to vibrate.

Through this article, we will take a look at the various reasons that could cause the noise and make the washing machine vibrate more than usual. If this is happening, first check the load in the washer. It could be a single big item on one side of the washer drum which is creating imbalance in the machine and hence making it vibrate noisily.

One of the most common reasons for vibration is improper levelling. A washing machine balances itself on four feet and the height of each foot should be equal for maintaining the balance. Sometimes, there is a slight slope in the floor and hence the feet of the washing machine have to be adjusted in such a way to keep it perfectly horizontal.

Vibrations also occur when the stacking kit is out-of-place. The very function of this kit is to keep the washing machine stable while it is working. Displaced or missing stacking kit can also cause vibrations in the machine. It is best to call an expert who can detect the reason of the excessive vibration and make the minor change required.

You may try to detect the problem yourself but do not ignore it if you cannot. Find someone who can and who will also lead you to the solution. How much a machine will vibrate during the wash and spin cycles depends upon a variety of factors. It could be the type of load and also the type of washing machine you are using.

Other than vibration, the noise could be of some metal item struck in any part of the washing machine. Many a times, under wirings, coins and other accessories are found struck in the machine and create a lot of noise. So a casual inspection might solve your problem. Check the parts like the hose where something could be struck. It might disrupt the working today but might cause some damage tomorrow.

If there is no major issue with the washing machine and you are still getting disturbed by the noise it makes, you may try some of the anti-vibration products available in the market. These are small stands or pads on which you can keep your washer or dryer. These give a stable base and also absorb the vibrations, which reduces the noise.
